About Our Site

HerbExpert was formed to offer a unique reference point on growing and cooking herbs.

HerbExpert was set up to be the one site that would contain all the information you want about herbs. Our aim is to provide that information in a simple and clear format, in easily accessible language.

It's a huge challenge to try to cover everything you ever wanted to know about herbs but we're up for it!

Our expert authors have made a good start. In Growing Herbs they've considered a large number, and different types, of herbs, and in the Cooking with Herbs section they suggest what to do with your crop. They can help plan a herb garden if you've the space or if you live in a high-rise flat, they recommend herbs that will grow well in tubs on the windowsill.

They've looked at problems that can occur when growing herbs and suggest methods - some more humane than others! - for dealing with pests. They offer advice on picking and preserving herbs.

Herbs have a very long history and our authors have looked back at that and at the way herbs have been used, since man has existed, for medicinal and cosmetic purposes. Herbs of course can be used around the house as well and there are instructions for making lavender bags and pillows as well as pot pourri and herbal bath oils.

We are always on the lookout for topics we haven't covered yet and regularly review the site. And we welcome your questions to our experts so if there's a specific query you have or there's something you'd like information about, just ask!

Our concern was that there was no single UK resource for interesting features and practical advice on this subject.

Our features and articles are written by experts - who have experience, or a particular interest in this area.

Our Background

HerbExpert was founded by John Rowlinson, the founder of PtS.

John, through PtS, is involved in a number of ventures including software and property companies. A percentage of revenue from these activities goes towards funding HerbExpert and a number of similar sites.

Our focus is simply on having experts create the highest quality information possible that is widely read.
